Not Like Other Girls

There is no “other girl.” You’re competing against an image in your mind that the world has told us is “how girls are.”

I’m sure you, like me (assuming you use any form of social media) have, at some point, come across a meme (of varying descriptions) where the creator states she’s not like other girls.

She may state that, unlike other girls, she’s into sport. Really? That makes you “unlike other girls”? When I was in high school, I was the anomaly for not liking sports of any kind. Most of my friends liked at least some sport or another. Many were actually fanatical about it – one even got an overseas scholarship she was so good at baseball.

My point is, if you’re a girl and you like sport, that does not make you unique. (You’re also not unique if you’re like me and you don’t like sport – at the very least, that’s what’s expected of you as a woman.)

Some girls say they’re different because they don’t look perfect…
