Always & forever, many repeated thanks to Getting Through Anxiety & The Melodramatic Confessions of Carla Louise for creating this fantastic monthly challenge!
August 14th is a “Band/Singer that starts with the letter ‘N.'” I was dreading this day for the longest. While I don’t particularly care about what people think about me, I do sometimes get my knickers in a twist when my musical tastes are called into question.
Yes, this band is auto-tuned to heck. Yes, this band’s melodies are mostly similar (but not as bad as Green Day, whom I also like very much). Yes, this band’s lyrics focus around the stereotypical rock ‘n roll lifestyle. Yes, this band is highly mocked all across the Internet – not to mention the “real world.”
I don’t give a rat’s dirty patootie – I like Nickelback. 🙂
Tell me how awful my musical tastes are – it’s OK, I promise. 🙂
I like certain songs from Nickelback. But, for me, I played those songs so much in high school and college, that they lost some of their luster.

I can totally agree with that – some of their earlier work is so over-played that I can’t even listen to it anymore. I had this same conversation with Carla about Linkin Park. 🙂
But I like Nickelback’s new work.

I liked it when it first came out, but I’ve heard it so many thousands of times by now it has lost its luster. I do like their songs about sex – those are fun! “Burn It To The Ground” is my current favorite though.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard it! I love the line, “Have washed out singers writing all my songs…”

“Lip sync ’em every night so I don’t get ’em wrong!” 😀
Burn It To The Ground is the one that goes “We’re going out tonight / to kick out every light / take anything we want / drink everything in sight. / We’re going ’till the world stops turning as we burn it to the ground tonight.” It’s basically entirely about getting drunk & being stupid… which I couldn’t possibly relate to nowadays, but in my hey-day…. LOL

It’s one of their newer songs. I wouldn’t know if it gets a lot of radio-play, though. I only use Pandora or my iPod nowadays. LOL
